BRIEF
What an All-in-One Business Platform Really Costs You in Reais
Most all-in-one business platforms bill in US dollars. That means a Brazilian business pays the converted price plus the bank's spread plus IOF, roughly 7 to 8% more than the number on the pricing page. The second thing to check is whether the tool handles WhatsApp, because many don't.
The dollar price is not the price on your card statement
If you search for an all-in-one platform's preço from Brazil, you will mostly find prices in US dollars. You do not pay that number. You pay the dollar price converted at your card issuer's rate, which sits above the commercial rate. Then IOF is added on top, the tax on foreign-currency card purchases. The federal government raised it to 3.5% by decree in May 2025.
Here is what that means for a single plan. Take a $49/month platform and a rate of R$5.50 per dollar. A plain conversion gives R$269.50, but your statement will show something closer to R$290. That gap repeats every month, and it applies to every dollar-billed tool you use, not only the big one.
The exchange rate in this article is an assumption so the arithmetic is easy to follow. Swap in the current rate from the Banco Central converter and your own bank's spread. The method stays the same.
Three common plan prices, converted to what you actually pay
The table runs three real list prices through the same three steps. The prices are $49 (Fynl's single-business plan), $97 (GoHighLevel's entry plan) and $149 (Fynl's Agency plan). The 4% card spread is an illustrative figure, not a quote. Banks differ, and you can find yours on your last foreign charge (see the final section).
| Step | $49/mo plan | $97/mo plan | $149/mo plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plain conversion at R$5.50 | R$269.50 | R$533.50 | R$819.50 |
| + 4% card spread (assumed) | R$280.28 | R$554.84 | R$852.28 |
| + 3.5% IOF | R$290.09 | R$574.26 | R$882.11 |
| Per year, landed | R$3,481 | R$6,891 | R$10,585 |
| Per year, if you trusted the plain conversion | R$3,234 | R$6,402 | R$9,834 |
The uplift is about 7.6% in every column. On the $97 plan, that is almost R$500 a year that never appears on a pricing page. The $97 figure is also only GoHighLevel's starting point. We broke down what small businesses actually end up on in GoHighLevel's real monthly cost.
There is one more dollar bill to count. Fynl runs its AI on your own Claude or ChatGPT API key, so you pay Anthropic or OpenAI directly with no markup. Those providers also bill in dollars, so the same spread and IOF apply. Your usage decides the size of that bill, so check it after the first month rather than guessing.
What the price in reais still does not tell you
WhatsApp. In Brazil, many clients book a photographer, chase a mechanic or confirm a clinic appointment on WhatsApp, not by email. Many US-built all-in-one platforms are built around email and SMS. Fynl does not do SMS or phone calls yet, and it has no built-in WhatsApp inbox. If WhatsApp is where your business actually happens, a Brazilian CRM such as RD Station may be the better fit. It bills in reais and offers WhatsApp tools, and it avoids IOF entirely.
Nota fiscal. A foreign company will not issue a Brazilian nota fiscal for your subscription. You get an invoice or receipt in English. Whether that is good enough for your books is a question for your contador, and it is worth asking before you sign up, not at year end.
How you pay. Paying with a personal or company credit card is the simple path covered above. Some companies pay foreign software by international bank transfer as a PJ instead. Import-of-services taxes can then apply on top, which changes the maths considerably. Again, ask your contador which route your company uses.
Annual billing. Paying a year upfront does not avoid IOF, because it is charged on the annual payment too. What it does is lock one exchange rate for twelve months. That helps if the real weakens and hurts if it strengthens.
How to decide in ten minutes
You do not need a spreadsheet template. You need your last two card statements.
- Find your real rate. Pick any recent foreign charge. Divide the reais you were charged, including IOF, by the dollar amount. That one number already includes your spread and the tax, and it replaces the 5.50 × 1.04 × 1.035 used above.
- List what you pay now, in reais. Include every tool the all-in-one would replace: booking, invoicing, e-signature, website, email marketing and CRM. Some will be in reais and some in dollars. Use the statement amounts, not the pricing pages.
- Multiply the all-in-one's dollar price by your real rate. Do the same for any AI or add-on charges billed in dollars.
- Subtract the tools you would have to keep. If you still need a WhatsApp tool or an SMS service, its cost stays in your stack.
- Compare the two totals. If the all-in-one is not at least a few hundred reais a year cheaper, or saves you real hours, stay where you are.
If the cheapest option you find claims to cost nothing, read where free all-in-one software charges you instead before you move. If the numbers say switch, plan the move with what a contact export leaves behind.
Questions people also ask
Is IOF charged on software subscriptions paid with a Brazilian card?
Yes. A dollar-billed subscription paid by card is a foreign-currency card purchase, so IOF applies. It was set at 3.5% by the May 2025 decree. Check the current rate on your statement, because IOF rules have changed several times.
Does paying annually save me the IOF?
No. IOF is charged on the annual payment as well. Annual billing only fixes the exchange rate for a year, which can work for or against you.
Are there all-in-one platforms priced in reais?
Yes. Brazilian tools such as RD Station bill in reais, which removes the spread and IOF. They often handle WhatsApp better than US-built platforms. Compare their total against the dollar options using the same landed-cost method.
How do I find my bank's real exchange rate?
Take any recent foreign charge on your card statement. Divide the reais amount, including IOF, by the dollar amount. The result is your real all-in rate, and it is more accurate than any published rate.
