Pick what it opens

A web page, your Wi-Fi, a contact card, a ready-to-send email or text, or a phone call.

Save a PNG for screens and documents or an SVG for print, then scan it with your phone.

QR codes that never expire

This generator makes static QR codes: the link or details are stored inside the pattern itself. There is no server in the middle that can switch your code off or start charging for it later, so it keeps working as long as the web page or details it holds are still valid.

The trade-off is that a static code can’t be changed after it’s printed. If the address might change, point the code at a page you control, or use a dynamic code that you can re-point and that counts scans.

Adding a logo without breaking the scan

QR codes carry spare data, called error correction, so a phone can still read them when part of the pattern is covered. When you add a logo, the generator switches to the highest level, H, which can rebuild about 30% of the code, and keeps the logo to the middle fifth or so. Simple, high-contrast logos scan best.

Keep the code dark on a light background. Light-on-dark codes and pale colours look stylish but many phone cameras can’t read them, so the generator warns you when the contrast is too low.

PNG or SVG?

  • PNG for websites, social posts, slides and Word or Google documents. Choose 2048 px if it will be printed large.
  • SVG for print and design tools such as Canva, Illustrator or a print shop. It stays sharp at any size.

How big to print it

A common rule of thumb is that a code should be about a tenth as wide as the distance it will be scanned from: around 2.5 cm (1 inch) for a business card or table, and much bigger for a window or a sign across a room. Always keep the white border around the code, and test the printed version with more than one phone.

Questions

QR code questions

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many codes you make. PNG and SVG downloads are both free.

Do these QR codes expire?

No. They are static codes: the link or details are stored in the code itself, so they keep working for as long as the web page or details inside them are valid.

Can I put my logo in the QR code?

Yes. Upload a logo and it goes in the middle. The generator switches to the highest error correction (H) so the code still scans. Test it with your phone before printing.

Can I change the link after I print the code?

Not with a static code, because the link is part of the pattern. If you need to change it later, print a code that points to a page you control, or use a dynamic QR code in Fynl, which you can re-point at any time and which counts every scan.

How does a Wi-Fi QR code work?

Choose Wi-Fi, type the network name exactly as it appears (capitals matter), the password and the security type. Guests scan it with their phone camera and tap to join, without typing the password.

Can I see how many people scanned my code?

A static code can’t count scans. To see visits in Google Analytics, add UTM tags to your link with our free UTM builder before you make the code. Fynl’s dynamic QR codes count every scan.

Is my information private?

Yes. The code is made in your browser and nothing you type is uploaded. The page remembers your last settings on this device so you don’t have to retype them, but never your Wi-Fi password.
