Free Calendly Alternatives: What Each Free Booking Plan Really Includes
Calendly's free plan gives you one event type and one connected calendar. The free alternatives each give something different away: Google Calendar keeps reminders for paying subscribers, Setmore and Square send reminders but brand or charge elsewhere, and our free booking page sends no emails at all.

Why people look past Calendly's free plan
Calendly made the shareable booking link normal, and its free plan is a real product. The reason people go looking for an alternative is usually one line on Calendly's pricing page: the free plan includes one event type and one calendar connection. Automated reminders, cancellation policies and payments are marked as paid-plan features.
One event type is fine if you only ever offer a 30-minute call. It stops working the moment you offer two things: a free 15-minute intro and a paid 60-minute session, or a haircut and a colour appointment. Then you are either paying per seat or squeezing different services into one length that suits neither.
So the useful comparison is not which tool has the most integrations. It is which free plan lets you offer the appointments you actually sell, and what each one gives away to stay free.
The free plans side by side
Every row below comes from the vendor's own pricing or help page, read in October 2026. Check again before you commit, because free plans move.
| Tool | Free plan limit you hit first | What else to know |
|---|---|---|
| Calendly Free | One event type, one calendar connection | Reminders, cancellation policies and payments are on paid plans |
| Google Calendar (personal account) | A single booking page | Google says a paid subscription unlocks email reminders, paid bookings and more |
| Square Appointments Free | Card processing fees on payments | Booking site, appointment reminders and unlimited staff calendars; cancellation and no-show fees are on the next plan |
| Setmore Free | Setmore branding stays, one reminder per booking | Up to 4 users and unlimited appointments; email reminders yes, text reminders no |
| Our free booking page | No emails at all, 50 bookings a month | 3 services with their own lengths, reschedule and cancel online; deposits and Google Calendar sync are paid |
Google's help page on premium appointment schedule features says a personal Google account can create a single booking page. That is a good free option if one kind of appointment is all you need and your clients are happy without reminders. Setmore's pricing page lists email confirmations and one reminder on the free plan, which makes it the strongest free choice here if reminders matter more to you than branding. Square Appointments includes reminders free and earns its money on card payments, so it suits a business that already takes cards through Square.
Where our free booking page fits, honestly
Our free plan is the only one in the table that sends no emails, to you or to the person booking. We would rather say that first than have you find out after a client misses an appointment. What the client gets instead is a clear confirmation on screen, with Add to Google Calendar and Apple or Outlook buttons, and a page they can come back to if they need to move or cancel. You see each booking on the calendar in your free account, on its dashboard and under the notification bell.
What it does well is the thing Calendly's free plan does not: up to 3 services, each with its own length from 15 minutes to 4 hours, on one page. You set weekly hours per day, a break between bookings, how much notice you need, where the appointment happens (phone, in person or video) and up to five questions of your own. After you publish, the same account lets you close single dates, change hours on one day and add a second set of hours to a day. The page takes 50 bookings a month, then asks visitors to contact you directly until the next month starts.
When you want reminder emails, the paid Starter plan ($49 a month) sends confirmations and reminders from your own Gmail and can take a deposit through your own Stripe account, next to the CRM, quotes and invoices. If none of that will ever matter, Setmore's or Square's free plan may suit you better, and that is a fair answer.
How to set up the free booking page
The video above shows the whole route in under a minute and a half. Here are the same steps in writing.
1. List your appointment types
Write down each kind of appointment people book with you and how long it really takes, including the few minutes you need to write notes afterwards. If you have more than three, group them: "Consultation", "Standard session", "Long session" usually covers it.
2. Add services and lengths
Open the free booking page and press Make a booking page free. Type your business name, then add up to three services and pick a length for each. The live preview on the right shows them as buttons, exactly as a client will see them.
3. Set your weekly hours and time zone
Tick the days you work and set opening and closing times for each. Choose your time zone; visitors in another zone can switch the times to their own with one tick box.
4. Choose where, the break and the notice
Pick phone, in person or video, and add your number, address or meeting link. Set a break between bookings so back-to-back appointments still leave you time to reset, and an earliest booking time (from any time up to a week ahead) so nobody books a slot you cannot prepare for.
5. Add your questions
Name, email and phone are always asked. Add up to five more, such as "What would you like help with?", and tick Required on the ones you cannot work without.
6. Publish and test
Press Publish my booking page, give your name and email, and open the link we email you. That puts the page live and opens your free account with the page's link and embed code. Then do what the scorecard below asks: book a slot from your phone, find it on your calendar, and reschedule it from the client's side.
Which one to pick
- One kind of appointment, and you already live in Google Calendar: a personal Google booking page costs nothing extra.
- Reminders matter more than branding: Setmore's free plan sends a confirmation and one reminder.
- You take card payments in person through Square: Square Appointments' free plan keeps bookings and payments together.
- You sell two or three different appointments and want them on one page, with your own questions: try our free booking page, and plan for reminders later.
Whatever you choose, put the link where clients already look. Our guide to making a booking link and placing it covers Instagram, Google and your email signature, the no-show guide covers what to do when there are no automatic reminders, and there are separate walk-throughs for putting the calendar on your website and for hairstylists and nail techs. All of our free tools are listed on one page.
